bhn 2023 Riesling

A collector's amber wine with the tension of Riesling and the depth of noble rot.

• Eye: In the glass, this rich amber wine presents a slight natural haze, the unfiltered clarity and visual richness typical of extended skin contact.
• Nose: High aromatic intensity with a lush, exotic bouquet. Top notes of maple syrup, apricot nectar, lychee, and dried mango burst from the glass, evolving into layers of marzipan, almond, caramel, toffee, mint, and dried pineapple. 
• Palate: The thoughtful use of noble rot, paired with fermentation with indigenous yeast, grant a flavor profile unlike any other to this vintage. Full-bodied, off-dry, with high acidity. Rich, mouth-coating texture with flavors of sticky date pudding, mango nectar, raisin, and apricot jam. This vintage finishes with layers of orange marmalade, flinty minerality, and buttered toast, all drawn out over a super-long, dry finish. The interplay of sweetness and acidity is seamless, delivering both power and precision.

Our 2023 Riesling is farmed using organic practices, and contains no additions aside from minimal sulfur at bottling. Our aging process uses clay amphorae rather than wooden casks, resulting in very rich and mineral expressions from grape to glass. This vintage has an ABV of 15.5%.
